TechStars

TechStars

BACKGROUND

I mentored eleven startups to build and refine the UX within their products, apps, and presentations for TechStars NYC Demo Day. Served as a HackStar over a six-month period.

THE PROBLEM

I was selected to be one of six HackStars for the 2011 Summer TechStars NYC program. As HackStars, my mandate was to mentor teams with UX practices, tools, and processes.

THE PROCESS

I worked directly with twelve NYC TechStars companies specialized upon IA/UX Design along with Product Design, Branding, Web Development and Presentation Design. I worked with SideTour.com, Ordr. In, CourseKit.com, Contently.com, Spontaneously.com, GetAmbassador.com, MobIntent.com, Urtak.com, ChatID.com, Dispatch.io and Piictu.com.

THE SOLUTION

Out of twelve startups selected as the 2011 NYC TechStars class, I directly worked with eleven of them. Almost all startups received some Venture Capital or Angel investing as a direct result of their presentation, product, and performance at Demo Day.

ABOUT TECHSTARS

“TechStars is the #1 startup accelerator in the world. We’re very selective – Although thousands of companies apply each year, we only take about ten companies per program. We have selection rates lower than the Ivy League, so you have to be among the best of the best to be in TechStars.”

“We offer TechStars in top startup locations (Boston, Boulder, New York City, and Seattle), on a regular schedule. Our companies get seed funding from over 75 different venture capital firms and angel investors who are vested in their success, along with three months of intensive top-notch mentorship, incredible perks, and the chance to pitch to angel investors and venture capitalists at the end of the program. Our companies average over $1M in outside venture capital raised after leaving TechStars.”
