design + redesign

October 27, 2005 on 4:28 am | In ITP | No Comments

design + redesign

this week my goals are based around the act of redesign. more specifically, redesigning something that has already been designed, namely by somebody else. my overall goal each day is to “redesign one (1) object/product each day at least to the sketch level. these can be either really quick ‘one-offs’ or something more ‘fleshed out’”. by the end of the week, i am going to “take one of the daily exercise sketches and take that idea through another iteration and try to go up to the 3D rendering level.” my shepherd is timothy mohn.

i swore i wouldn’t do anything electronic. dammit.

the cheesey lyrics don’t help much, though they don’t even fit with the music at all.

the original piece on the left by jason lee, a shameless attempt of a reproduction by yours truly.

stuff actually work?

because when I left the deli with my coffee, i forgot this on the counter and had to go back for it.

another two pics and a song by the doves entitled “here it comes” from their cd “lost souls”. i don’t know why i feel the need to play dj for you all, though it’s more that this was a song i was listening to when i was drawing blindly.

i was feeling inspired tonight and decided to draw two, though the images are really crappy. i blame my camera and the stupid lack of control on the flash.

“shall i compare thee to a summer’s day?
thou art more lovely and more temperate

rough winds do shake the darling buds of may
and summer’s lease hath too short a date

sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
and often is his gold complexion dimm’d

and every fair by fair sometimes declines
by chance, or nature’s changing course, untrimm’d;

by thy eternal summer shall not fade,
nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;

nor shall death brag thou wander’st in his shade,
when in eternal lines to time though growest;

so long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
so long live this, and this gives life to thee”

-wm. shakespeare
